What's new in HouseChief

A dated list of what changed in HouseChief, one line per change, newest first. HouseChief is a family organizer with an AI chief of staff, built and improved week by week, and free while in early access.

Last updated

  • New on the website: a family command center guide, Skylight vs Hearth, separate morning and bedtime routine guides, and pages for the grocery list and Claude and ChatGPT.
  • Invite another family to HouseChief with your own invite link, from Settings.
  • Choose where each event is copied: one connected Google, Outlook or iCloud calendar, every synced calendar, or HouseChief only. Each parent can set a default for new events.
  • Two-way Outlook Calendar sync, for personal Outlook.com accounts and most Microsoft 365 work or school accounts.

  • A family photo album: add photos from your phone or by email, and the wall display can show them as a slideshow that pauses at night.
  • Lock the wall display so only a parent can unlock it, and switch a kid's Buddy on or off in Settings.
  • Send items from a list to an Amazon cart link, then review and order on Amazon yourself.
  • New for kids: puzzles on any theme, math fact sheets, quick math drills, flashcards, chore bingo and a savings thermometer.
  • Print any list or project as a checklist, with an ink-saver option.
  • Share a single book, coloring page or puzzle with a private link, for example with a grandparent.
  • Early-reader books get a picture on every page, and open in a full-screen book reader.
  • Every agent has its own character: pick a shape and a color on its contact card.
  • Your agent's web browser works on phones and tablets: pages fit the screen, touch gestures, typing and copy and paste, and you can open it yourself any time.
  • Outlook mail joins Connected apps, so your agents can read and search it (read-only).
  • Add HouseChief's events to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or Outlook with a private subscription link, and a guided iCloud setup.
  • Delete your family account from Settings, or, as a second parent, just your own account.
  • A public website with features, guides, comparisons, an FAQ and a plain-language privacy summary.
  • The morning briefing uses the weather where your family lives.

  • Watch your agent's browser live, take over whenever you like, and teach it a task by showing it once.
  • Family projects with sections, a goal date and templates (birthday party, family trip, back to school, moving and more), and your Chief of Staff can plan one for you.
  • Repeating to-dos, a weekly review, kids' to-dos on their own board, and to-dos on the calendar.
  • To-dos with due dates, owners, priority and phone reminders. Type them the way you'd say them, like "pay water bill friday 5pm".
  • Ask looks and works like a messaging app, with one ongoing chat per agent.
  • A new Resources tab with coloring pages and early-reader books made around your kids' favorite things.

  • Weather on the wall display, and a read-only offline mode for the main pages.
  • Read-only share links that show grandparents or a sitter the schedule, with no account needed.
  • Use HouseChief from your own Claude, ChatGPT or other AI assistant.
  • Two-way iCloud Calendar sync.
  • Sign in with Face ID or a passkey, or with Google, plus optional two-step sign-in.
  • A new HouseChief logo, and a page where families can ask to join.
  • Two-way Google Calendar sync: pick which Google calendars to show, and HouseChief events are copied to Google.
  • Connected apps: let your agents read Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Dropbox, Todoist and Notion, read-only.
  • Every family gets its own email address for forwarding school emails, invites and schedules.
  • Quick add reads photos, screenshots and PDFs: snap a flyer and get the events.

  • HouseChief opens to a few more families, invite-only, with a welcome setup and a feedback button.

  • A team of agents, each with its own chat, led by a Chief of Staff who hands work to the right one.
  • A cleaner look, dark mode and phone-style tabs.
  • Agents can make spreadsheets, charts and PDFs.
  • Tap a recipe to read it full-screen while you cook; the screen stays on.

  • Recipe box sections, and meals that repeat every week.
  • Store grocery lists, such as Costco, sorted by aisle like the main list.
  • Groceries and to-dos you ask for go straight on the list, with Undo. Agents can also suggest edits for your approval, draft emails you send with a tap, and work out drive times.

  • Forward an email and the dates, to-dos and groceries land in your Inbox to approve.
  • Agents can make pictures, do deeper research and find family documents in your connected OneDrive folder.
  • Talk to your agent by voice, and every kid gets a Buddy that tells bedtime stories; parents can read kids' chats.
  • A morning briefing, scheduled routines and phone notifications.
  • Family memories your agents share, a cheer for every finished chore, and home care reminders.

  • Your agent can run errands in its own web browser, and it asks before submitting anything.
  • Personal AI agents with a name, a personality, a memory and web search.
  • Send photos to your agent, and save recipes and documents to OneDrive.
  • Ask: chat with a family helper that knows your calendar, meals and lists, and proposes changes for your OK.
  • AI quick add: type a note and the events, chores and groceries wait in the Inbox for approval.

  • Faster chores and lists, "just this day" or "every repeat" for repeating events, parents-only lists, and a wall display that stays awake.

  • The first version: a shared calendar, chores and rewards, meals and a grocery list, lists, an approval Inbox and a wall display.
