What approve-first means for a family plan
Approve-first means you ask for a plan in plain language, HouseChief proposes calendar events, meals, a grocery list or chores, and nothing on the calendar or the meal plan changes until a parent taps Approve. The assistant can draft. A parent decides. That is the whole safety idea: the week does not move while you are asleep.
Propose, then Approve
Parents ask the Chief of Staff for a week of dinners, a ride, or a reading of a school email. The reply is a proposal: events, meals, list items or chores you can edit before they exist. The Inbox holds what came from a forward, a photo or quick add. Kids never see the Inbox. You tap Approve for the parts you want, and you drop the rest.
Calendar edits, meal changes, emails the assistant would send, and anything it would submit on a website wait for that tap. Adding items to a list, or making a new list or project when you asked for one, can happen right away, and those cards have Undo. The assistant does not get to rearrange Thursday overnight. The AI chief of staff page is the feature. A plain-language privacy summary is at privacy.
What you can ask in a normal week
Ask for dinners that fit the nights you are home, and the proposal stays off the meal grid until you approve it. Forward a newsletter from a parent's own address. If you do not connect a mail account, email reaches HouseChief only when a parent forwards it. Connecting a mailbox is separate and optional. A photo of a flyer can become proposed events the same way: you check them, then Approve.
Frontier AI models do the drafting. Families do not pick a model, and HouseChief does not ask you to. The assistant is HouseChief's Chief of Staff. It can hand a flyer or an invitation to a design helper, and that result is still something you review. Web errands stop and ask before a final submit.
What approve-first does not mean
It does not mean the assistant is silent. It will suggest, remind, and write a morning briefing from the calendar you already approved. It does not mean kids get the same tools. A child's Buddy can look at that child's chores and the calendar. It cannot change the plan, browse the web, or see parents-only lists. Parents can read those chats.
It also does not mean you must approve every idea. Leaving a proposal is a decision. A duplicate of a school date you already subscribe to should be dropped. The using AI safely as a family guide is the wider habit. This page is only the propose-then-Approve rule.
A Parker Tuesday
Jordan asks for next week's dinners and a grocery list that skips mushrooms. Five meals come back as a proposal. Jordan deletes the night of Maya's program, approves the other four, and the ingredients go to the list. Sam sees the dinners on the calendar that night. Nothing moved before the tap. If you want the same idea in one sentence, it is the line on the HouseChief home page: it waits for your OK before anything changes.
Questions
What happens when I ask HouseChief to plan our week?
You ask in plain language. HouseChief proposes calendar events, meals, a grocery list or chores, and nothing changes until a parent taps Approve. You can edit or drop a proposal first. A list or a project you explicitly asked for can be created right away, and that card has Undo. Kids do not see the approval Inbox.
Will the assistant change the calendar while I am asleep?
No. Calendar and meal changes wait for Approve. A morning briefing can describe the day you already planned. It does not move events on its own. If a draft is wrong, leave it. The week you approved stays where you left it.
Does email land on the calendar by itself?
No. If you do not connect a mail account, email reaches HouseChief only when a parent forwards it from their own address. The dates come back as proposals. A parent reviews them and taps Approve. Connecting a mailbox is optional, and it is not required for forwarding.
What will the AI do without asking?
It can look things up, answer questions, and add items to a list with Undo. Calendar and meal changes, emails and anything submitted on a website wait for a parent to tap Approve. A new list or project you asked for can be created right away, and that card has Undo. It never types passwords or card numbers.
